What Insurance is more reliable for Life Insurance New York Life with AARP or Colonial Penn.?
Does anyone know which of these Life Insurance programs is more reliable. New York Life with AARP or Colonial Penn? Does anyone have the statistics or know what website to go to?

According to AM Best, NY Life is rated A++ XV, and Colonial Penn is rated B+.

There’s no way I’d buy a life insurance policy with a company rated in the B’s. If those are the only two you’re looking at, go with NY Life.

Or talk to another agent and get quotes with 20 more companies.

No, you don’t. You would have to apply for life insurance offered by an associate company.

Is AARP reputable? Do you know of a better Life insurance company?
Besides the fact that I am still grieving for my husband who passed on January 22, 2010, I have been consumed with concern about another issue in which I would like to obtain knowledge. Does anyone know if AARP is reputable for their benefits specifically their life insurance policy. I don’t want to start paying premiums and then have my 2 sons find out later that they don’t/won’t pay for the remainder of my funeral expenses. I don’t even know how it works. If I were to start paying premiums and died after just 6 months or a year or more would I be covered for the full amount? Is there another life insurance company that anyone has or knows about that’s better? I need to get this straightened out before anything should happen to me because I want to be buried next to my husband when my time comes, the plots are already prepaid for the both of us. I want to have one less thing to worry about right now. I don’t want any more stress in my life than need be. I know those of you who answered my posts already understand how it is going through this grief. So, I want to express to everyone who replied before that I really appreciate your condolences.

Shop around … talk & listen to several agents including independent agents.

Sorry for your loss but plan ahead for YOUR needs and wishes.

If you are healthy, get a whole life or universal life policy (there are several kinds of universal life)

If you have a health issue, there are *Guaranteed Issue* policies usually up to $10,000 in death benefits. However, with these policies, if you die in the first two years (generally), your heirs will only get back the premiums that you paid in plus some small interest. You can also purchase more than one policy.

Bottom line: talk to several agents and talk about your needs.

Do life insurance companies check your medical records after you die?
Let’s say that you get life insurance and claim to be a non-smoker. Then let’s say that you start smoking or resume smoking. Assuming that your medical records show that you smoked, will most life insurance companies check your records, see that you smoked, and then cancel your benefit?

If you die of something caused by smoking…
they will likely check your records a bit

BUT they’ll still pay the claim – minus the amount you “should’ve paid” for premiums as a smoker

Need to buy some life insurance for my in-laws who just immigrated from another country?
Anybody know of any good life insurance companies that are affordable? my in-laws just immigrated here and they both suffer with high blood pressure, but thats all. I need something i can afford, i’ve herd of aarp and aig but anybody know what is the best deal? They are both in their 60′s.
They live with us and we support them, so we will be paying for all expenses.

Why do you need life insurance for them? You are supporting them not the other way around. Meaning, you are not dependent upon their income. so unless they have debts that will need to be paid off, I don’t see much need for life insurance other than burial expenses. A couple in their 60s in overall good health will probably life for decades longer.

But if you need life insurance, the best bet is go to a local independent agent who represents many companies. They can run quotes and get the best rates. High blood pressure will make the policies more expensive.

The big reason you need an agent is it gives you a specific person to go to with questions.
