My buddy got in an accident on his last day of insurance, is he still covered?
Here is the situation: My buddy canceled his next pending insurance term on july 24th because the rates started to rise. The next term would have started on the 28th. His insurance card reads “effective date: 1-26-11 to 7-26-11″. He got in a minor accident with a motorcycle ON the 26th. The insurance company is now trying to say he is not covered. Is he being messed with by the insurance company? Will he have to get a lawyer for this one? The police read the insurance card at the time of the accident and said he was still technically covered, but if the insurance company is trying to get out of it on some type of technicality what should he do? The insurance company is Progressive and he lives in Ohio. Thanks for any help and answers.
He did not cancel the day of the 24th otherwise he wouldn’t have been driving on the 26th when the accident occurred. he did not renew his insurance for the next term. So if the insurance card reads that he is covered from 1-26-11 to (not through) 7-26-11 wouldn’t that mean that the day of “1-26-11″ 12:00am he was covered? if so then that means he was also covered to 12pm of 7-26-11.

The key words are “to 7-26-11.” This means he is covered through midnight of the final day, July 25.

You want to pretend it reads “through 7-26-11.” It does not say that.

If the police said he was still technically covered, then the police are idiots.

Would you pay extra to fly on a Muslim-free airline?
With the exception of the Tamil Tigers (who direct their attacks solely against the India and Sri Lanka), every suicide bombing in the past fifty years have been perpetrated by Muslims.

Yet, in the wake of the attempted bombing of Flight 253 (BY A MUSLIM), the Huffington Post, ACLU, CIAR, and many other Liberal groups are protesting (and threatening to sue) the TSA because the TSA proposed additional screening for individuals who possess characteristics common among airline suicide bombers/attackers.

Considering how our (alleged*) president constantly gives in to the demands of the Radical Left and “International Opinion” (whatever that is…), I’m sure that it won’t be long before Obama orders to TSA to stop “profiling” individuals who hail from known terrorist strongholds and return to hassling 80 year old grandmothers from Ohio while ignoring men like Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab out of fear that they will be sued for “profiling” people whose fathers have fingered then to the CIA…

In response to this absurdity, I’m wondering if there’s the opportunity for an airline to make an absurd amount of money by becoming and advertising itself as the “Muslim Free Airline: Jihad free is the way to be!!!” Of course, such an airline would need a catchy name and something along the lines of “Civilized Air” would probably work quite well.

While such an airline would undoubtedly be sued by organizations like the ACLU and CAIR (which is nothing more than a political/litigious front group for Al Qaeda), and Liberal Justices would (of course) side with the ACLU and CAIR, I’m thinking that the airline could easily make up for any legal fees and lost judgments through lower insurance premiums (no risk of losing a plane to Jihadists) and by charging customers a slightly higher ticket price for the peace of mind the comes from knowing that the man sitting in the seat next to you isn’t suddenly going to scream “Allah Ackba!!!” and attempt to bring down the aircraft.

Not only would such an airline likely be able to get lower insurance rates and charge a higher ticket price, but their planes would likely be filled to capacity (something most planes are not) with passengers who don’t want to risk their lives flying on the other “politically correct” airlines.

Just out of curiosity, if an airline like “Civilized Regional United Southern Atlantic Direct Express (Crusade Airlines)” actually existed , would you pay extra to fly on an airline where you know the person sitting in the row ahead of you doesn’t have bombs strapped in his underwear and if so, how much more (50% more than the average ticket, twice the average ticket, etc.)?

*After Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was apprehended attempting to detonate a bomb on NW Flight 253, B. Hussein Obama couldn’t even bring himself to call the would-be bomber a “terrorist” and insisted on referring to him as an “alleged attacker.” Thus, Obama will henceforth be known as the “alleged” president.

Yes I would!

I realize that most muslims will not try to blow up a plane or use it as a bomb. But since the lockerbie incident, no one else but Muslims have tried to do such a thing.

Is there any way I can pin the hospital bills on the uninsured driver?
Long story short, I got thrown from an uninsured drunk driver’s sunroof last March at 100 miles per hour. My hospital bills were over $15,000 and all my lawyer could do for me was get about 8 grand from my car insurance and offer for me to pay collections around $25 a month. I honestly can’t afford even that right now. I’m only 19, fresh out of high school, unemployed, living with my parents… I’ll be paying on these hospital bills until I’m 53 at that rate. Is there any way I could pin all these bills on the uninsured driver who caused me to have to go to the hospital in the first place? He should have to be the one to pay them anyway. He damn near killed me, my life will never be the same. I live in Ohio if that helps with anything at all. Please help me, I’m desperate and I need options here.

Well, you can’t transfer the hospital bills directly to that guy.

You have to sue him directly, and try to collect. You should also submit the bills to your health isnurance company.

I would question what you were doing on the sunroof in the first place – if you were carsurfing, or otherwise on top of the moving car voluntarily, then a good portion of this is your fault for getting up on the roof.

Do you think my parents shelter me too much?
I am a senior in high school and have my license. I’ve had it for 5 months but my parents never let me drive alone because they don’t want to put me on the insurance plan. We can afford it.

They want me to attend the local community college or college in the next town over (Ohio State University). They are afraid I will party so this way they can keep close tabs on me. I’ve never had a drink in my life and I am an unweighted 3.8 and weighted 4.1 GPA. I take all Honors and AP classes.

My parents like to monitor my phone, internet and TV use. I have never gotten into serious trouble or anything so I don’t know why they are being so over protective. They don’t let me watch R rated movies or go to the mall/movies without an adult. I live in a fairly safe neighborhood and many people feel I am mature.

Yes, your parents are overprotective. Sure, they’re acting out of concern, but they have to show trust when it’s deserved. There are ways of monitoring teens without acting like Big Brother.

My oldest sister sheltered her kids and it completely backfired on her later. Now she has two young adults who are afraid to live on their own or take responsibility for their lives.
